Black Family Technology Awareness Week for February 11, 2007 until February 17, 2007

"See Flyer"
Special Event
February 11, 2007

Black Family Technology Awareness Week started Saturday, February 10, 2007 with the HSCC and Middle School Quiz Bowl Competition Kick off. We also had our first community event at Fifth Baptist Church on February 11, 2007 where we had many adults interested in BDPA conducting a beginners course in computers, someone interested in teaching technology and possible locations at the Fifth Baptist Church, Hotchiness Field or Stone House in Battery Park to have the event. We also had people interested in the Bermuda trip and attending the next BDPA meeting. Overall, I think we started this week off with a bang and we definitely have reached out to our community to decrease the digital divide. We have made a change to our schedule for those who have signed up to volunteer. John Marshall has been moved to February 16, 2007 from 12:40pm to 2:00pm. Please take time to read over the updated Schedule of Events Flyer.

Thanks to all our volunteers so far and all those who intend to volunteer this week.

Thanks,
Waahida "Sunday" Jones
BFTAW chairperson

Our Guiding Principle: "Educate to Elevate"

BDPA is a pro-active community service organization with the mission of “Educating the community through technological knowledge". As a member, you are provided opportunities to enhance your networking skills, play an active role in planning, developing, and implementing local and national projects designed to meet BDPA’s goals and objectives as well as enhance your personal and professional goals. BDPA members have an opportunity to be elected to national and local offices, chair committees/tasks forces and participate in committee/business area activities. The skills gained through taking on responsibilities in BDPA prove to be a valuable asset to one’s professional and personal life.
