BDPA Members and Friends,
As you may all be aware, each year, our Richmond chapter
trains a team of high school students to design websites and
sponsors their trip to the National BDPA Technology conference
to compete for college scholarships in the BDPA High School
Computer Competition. This is a great benefit to our
students in that it engages them in healthy competition, allows
them to demonstrate their computer prowess, allows them to
understand that hard work pays off and, most of all, gives them
the confidence in continuing these efforts and, hopefully,
furthering their education and knowledge. Each year we sponsor a competition team of five students and additional
students who attend the Youth Technology camp.
Our traditional way of providing financial support is to do
fund raising events. Due
to our busy schedules and lives at home and work, we all cannot
attend and contribute for these types of efforts. Therefore,
we have decided to break tradition and provide a way for our
entire Richmond Chapter to help with this great opportunity to
send our youth to the National BDPA Technology conference. With our Richmond chapter
member base now exceeding 170 members (approximately 65 full
members), we would like to give you a chance to contribute.
As members of the Richmond chapter, to be true to our Guiding
Principle of "Educate to Elevate", we owe it to our youth to
support them in what ever means necessary to help them succeed
in the High School Computer Competition program, furthering
their education, and ultimately increasing their chances to
succeed in life.
